Dynamic Stabilization

This is a newer surgical concept, in which segments of the spine are stabilized without a spinal fusion, allowing controlled motion. This controlled motion dampens the effect of the transition between normal and fused adjacent segments in the spine. The most common technologies employed are pedicle screws attached to flexible rods or bands.
