Cardiovascular anesthesiology is the branch of anesthesiology in which the management of patients requiring heart and large vessel surgeries (due to coronary artery disease, valvular disease or congenital malformations) is deepened, including perioperative management (pre-anesthetic assessment, general anesthetic management and specific, and postoperative analgesia) with strengths in management of critical cardiovascular patients, invasive monitoring and monitoring with transesophageal echocardiography, as well as the use of special devices such as ECMO, balloon pump and ventricular assist devices; Additionally, there is the possibility of expanding knowledge for anesthesia in lung and heart transplantation.
