An epileptic seizure is the transient appearance of signs and/or symptoms due to excessive or hypersynchronous neuronal activity in the brain.
Epilepsy is a brain disorder characterized by the permanent predisposition to generate epileptic seizures and by the neurobiological, cognitive, psychological and social consequences of this disorder. The definition of epilepsy requires that at least one epileptic seizure occur.
