Today we write a new history of health in Cartagena thanks to our person-centered comprehensive care model. We are a highly complex hospital, which has come to offer Cartagena, the entire Caribbean region and with a clear international projection, a differential service with the highest quality standards.

With 50,000 square meters built, we are the most modern hospital in the Caribbean region, located in Cartagena 15 minutes from the historic center, operated by the Santa Fe de Bogotá Foundation, a leading institution in Latin America in the provision of health services with the most high quality and humanism, certified nationally and internationally by ICONTEC - ISQua and by the Joint Commission International (JCI) in quality and safety in care and by Planetree in person-centered human care.

The history of the Hospital Serena del Mar– Hospital Carlos Haime, was born within the conception of Serena del Mar, “the dream city”, designed to generate well-being. It was born from the imagination of the Colombian Carlos Haime. The businessman and philanthropist acquired in 1968 the 1,000 hectares in which the project is carried out. His desire: to create a real estate development without equal, capable of guaranteeing high standards of quality of life for its inhabitants through integration with nature, the provision of first class services and the generation of job opportunities.

Today, it is his son Daniel Haime who is in charge of the Serena del Mar project, transforming his father's dreams into a tangible reality. Here, at Hospital Serena del Mar, state-of-the-art technology, a team of highly trained professionals, the best processes and protocols for safe and quality care for our patients and their families, and of course person-centered care with the purpose to serve.

Our architectural concept created by Moshe Safdie seeks to maximize the impact of natural lighting and views of the exterior, so that each corner of the hospital provides the patient with an ideal space for optimal recovery framed in a healing, therapeutic environment and the best conditions for those who They accompany you, generating a humanized experience essential for the well-being of our patients and their families.

The human sense, excellence and quality have been the backbone of our care model guaranteed by the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, our operator, and strengthened with the consolidation of strategic collaborations such as the one established for trauma and orthopedic care with New York Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) ranked number one in Orthopedics for 13 consecutive years in the United States.

This is the first strategic collaboration of this type for HSS in Latin America, which will facilitate knowledge sharing across multiple hospital processes and will provide academic referencing opportunities to strengthen the care model, whose main objective is to work together to build results that exceed the expectations of patients and their families.

Likewise, we have state-of-the-art technology at the service of our patients, favoring timely diagnostic processes, which are reflected in safe and effective treatments, at the disposal of our patients we have the only PET-CT in the city, state-of-the-art technology for diagnosis and monitoring of oncological, inflammatory, cardiological and neurological diseases; allowing a better assessment of the disease and more effective monitoring of the body's response to treatments in order to improve the quality of life of patients.
